Part of a wider whānau of care
Our Whānau
Rabbit Rescue Aotearoa began as an idea inside Aotearoa Animal Refuge — and it's still guided by the same values.
Part of a wider whānau of care
Rabbit Rescue Aotearoa began as an idea inside Aotearoa Animal Refuge (Te Tūāhoi Atawhai Kararehe o Aotearoa), a registered Māori-led charitable trust (CC60429). As rabbit-specific enquiries grew, we started building this as its own dedicated space — still guided by the same values of manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga, and working alongside AAR while it establishes its own footing.
Our guiding values
Manaakitanga
Hospitality & care
Treating every animal — and every person who reaches out — with dignity and genuine warmth.
Kaitiakitanga
Guardianship
Taking responsibility for the animals in our care and the wider welfare of rabbits across Aotearoa.
Whanaungatanga
Kinship & belonging
Building a community of people who care — adopters, fosters, supporters, and the animals themselves.
Rabbit Rescue Aotearoa is a developing initiative and is not yet independently registered as a charity. Until it is, support and enquiries are coordinated in partnership with Aotearoa Animal Refuge (CC60429).
